NATIONAL YOUTH CHOIR SERENADES SHOPPERS IN ADELAIDE ARCADE
12.30pm - 1.30pm WEDNESDAY 7 JULY
The National Youth Choir of Australia which brings together 20 of the country's best young adult singers will give a pre-concert recital to Adelaide Arcade, City, customers at 12.30 - 1pm on Wednesday 7 July.
With its wonderful acoustics Adelaide Arcade will resound to the voices of this prestigious choir, with its young members all aged between 18 - 26. Five members of the choir are from Adelaide: Alana Brook, Bethany Hill, Claira Smith, Nicholas Coxhill and Victoria Anderson; all Adelaide University Students.
Adelaide's own Carl Crossin is the choir's Artistic Director.
And for this tour NYCA have secured the Honorary Music Director of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, Mike Brewer, OBE as Guest Conductor.
This short performance will give a taste of the choir's vibrant repertoire and act as a warm up for their only Adelaide concert to be held Friday 9 at 6.30pm in the Elder Hall, admittance by gold coin donation.
The National Youth Choir of Australia, founded in 1995, brings together many of Australia's best young adult singers each year in what is still Australia's only truly national choir for this age group.
NYCA has held annual seasons in every Australian state, and is visiting Adelaide for the first time since 2004. Past seasons have featured some of Australia's finest choral conductors, as well as visiting conductors from the USA and Canada. In addition to the Elder Hall concert on 9 July at 6.30pm, NYCA will perform a preview concert at Newland Memorial Uniting Church, Victor Harbour on Thursday 8 July at 12.30pm.
