There's a time and a place - a visual experiment in space and light
Opens Wednesday 5 May, 6:00pm
Concludes Thursday 27 May
Light Square Gallery
39 Light Square, Adelaide
Four Adelaide-based visual artists have come together to present an exhibition of new works titled There's a time and a place. The exhibition features around 50 new works including glass, sculpture, installation and works on paper.
Glass artist and South Australian School of Art graduate Kristel Britcher will be exhibiting 14 blown and cold-worked glass works, while fellow South Australian School of Art graduate Heidi Kenyon will present an installation featuring a piano and a series of electroformed hand-cut leaves. Adelaide Central School of Art graduate Amy Joy Watson will present a number of small balsa wood sculptural works, and Adelaide College of the Arts graduate Talia Wignall will be exhibiting a collection of large and small-scale drawings.
A number of Heidi's engraved works will also be housed within Kristel's larger blown glass forms, speaking of the passage of time, place and personal universes.
Within our own personal universes we create spaces and moments that construct our perceptions of ourselves and the environment we traverse. There are spaces, objects and memories we use to look back, look forward and even look through to test our sense of self and our place at any moment, the artists explain. This exhibition is an experiment in artistic alchemy, where the space and light provided by the exhibition space are transformed into a universe of objects and images that challenge the way we perceive our current realities.
Using this diverse range of media, the artists populate the space with their dreams, memories and imaginings of how they see their own personal worlds.
