Theatrical Costume Exhibition at SALA

A group of 2nd and 3rd year Diploma of Costume for Performance students from TafeSA's Adelaide College the Arts will once again showcase intricately crafted examples of their work in the Adelaide Arcade during the 2010 SALA Festival.
This year's costumes include an Elizabethan Lady in full farthingale and an Elizabethan Gentleman in trunk hose.
There will also be a group of "Travelling Performer" themed costumes that include a Snake Charmer, a Bareback rider, Knife throwers, a Whip cracker, a Troubadour and many more.
Students exhibiting their work include Lucienne O'Loughlin, Jamie Jewell,Olivia Iacobelli, Naomi Darch, Rebecca Bromilow, Anna Perry, Jessica Parken and Sybil Lebois.
Using a mixture of luxurious and textural fabrics, applique, embellishing and embroidery, the students have researched, designed, pattern-drafted and constructed the costumes to a maximum budget of $70 per costume.
Diploma of Costume for Performance students from the Adelaide College of the Arts - a Helpmann Academy partner school - have exhibited their work during the SALA Festival for the past seven years.
The Helpmann Academy for the Visual & Performing Arts assists emerging artists to make the leap into professional practice, by providing a range of programs and opportunities including exhibitions, awards, grants, mentorships and international exchanges.
