Ex Adelaidian Kris Stewart is directing the new Sydney Fringe taking place this September and is offering incentives for Adelaide Fringe Festival artists to submit to take part in the inaugural Sydney Fringe.
Ex Adelaide Fringe artists who are keen should go to the website link for more details. There is a $20 submission fee (discounted for artists who were part of the Adelaide Fringe in 2010) before their submission can be assessed.
THE SYDNEY FRINGE TODAY ANNOUNCED ARTISTS CAN NOW APPLY TO INJECT SYDNEY'S INNER WEST (THIS SEPTEMBER) WITH INDEPENDENT NEW WORK THAT IS TANGIBLE AND AUTHENTIC
(SYDNEY, AUS) THE SYDNEY FRINGE, a multidiscipline cultural event set within the theatres, galleries, clubs and public spaces of the inner west, and showcasing the independence and irreverence of Sydney's creative community, today announced the opening of the submission process for the 2010 festival.
Opening Friday September 10, 2010, the Sydney Fringe will take run for 17 days throughout the Inner West, and will include the art spaces in St Peters and May Street, the underground performance venues in Petersham, music venues in King Street and Enmore Road, theatre venues in Erskineville and Redfern and many other spaces, large and small, across the precinct.
From January 29, artists will be able to visit thesydneyfringe.com.au and submit their project. Disciplines include theatre, comedy, dance, musical theatre and cabaret, physical and visual theatre, music, visual and digital arts, literary, film, craft, food, family and special events. Submissions will remain open until April 1, 2010.
The Sydney Fringe has been founded by the Newtown Entertainment Precinct Association (NEPA), an alliance of Inner West arts and cultural venues including Carriageworks, the Seymour Centre, the Enmore Theatre and many other theatre and music venues. The Sydney Fringe is supported by the City of Sydney and the City of Marrickville.

The Sydney Fringe will be a two week perv at what is happening next in our culture, a look underneath to the urban and the unconventional.
It will be a multidiscipline cultural showcase that throws you from edgy, alternative theatre to major concerts and visual arts openings, from brief encounters in surprising places to free one-off events, all night parties, and performances of all scales. The Fringe is irreverent, an alliance of rebels, and we offer our audience the thrill of discovery and the opportunity to experience independent new works that are tangible and authentic. The Sydney Fringe has carved its home in the Newtown Precinct, where there are the highest concentration of independent theatres and live performance spaces in Sydney - and the home of more working artists than any location in Australia. It's the alternative centrepiece of Sydney's culture, inhabited by punks and professors, artists and students and singers. It offers ten theatres, fifteen live music venues, twenty five pubs, more than twenty art galleries, two hundred speciality stores, more than 160 restaurants across 23 international cuisines - and, somehow, more than 24 hours a day of asskicking awesomeness.

There will be a lot of opportunities across a range of disciplines, so we want to create a submission process that artists will find easy to manage. We really just want to know what excites them in the project and why they want to get it before an audience.
