AUTUMN AWARDS FINALS
SOPRANO AND PIANIST WIN $1000 EACH
The two winners, each receiving $1000 at the Recitals Australia Yamaha Autumn Awards Finals held on 2 July, were soprano Desiree Frahn, 22 of Cumberland Park and pianist Warwick Ambrose, 19, of Mount Barker, both Elder Conservatorium students.
Desiree Frahn is an Honours student studying with Rosalind Martin and presented a winning program of Rachmaninoff, Strauss, and Barber accompanied by Janice Jialuo Tan on piano.
And
Warwick Ambrose, a 1st year piano student, studying with David Lockett, performed a program of Haydn, Debussy and Chopin.
Both winners say they will use their prize money to continue their studies.
The remaining finalists each received $100 each plus complimentary concert vouchers from Musica Viva. Awards have been sponsored by Allans Music, The Royal Commonwealth Society and Musica Viva.
