Short films
Short films of some interest to me because I worked on them; obviously I had to take notice of what I was doing, as I was doing it, but now to look back over them it is cerainly fun to see how things have changed, and how far people have come in terms of their work.
Take Catherine the young woman who wrote The Clegg Family. We had some fun shooting that. I was in another film Catherine wrote, called Life on Earth as I know it.
Catherine Zimdahl is a playwright and screenwriter.
Credits include Family Running For Mr Whippy (Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company), Clark In Sarajevo (Griffin, La Boite Theatre Company), The Clegg Family (AFTRS)
In 1998 Clark in Sarajevo received the Legal and the Griffin Award for Best New Australian Writing, and in 1999 won the Louis Esson Prize for Drama at the Victorian Premier's Literary Awards, and the ANPC/New Dramatists Exchange to New York.
Her plays have been performed at the Australian Museum, Windmill National Children's Theatre Company and ABC Radio.
Her screenplay Wharf at Woolloomooloo was a finalist in the Lexus If Awards Best Unproduced Screenplay in 2004.
1990 her short feature, Sparks, received Australian Film Institute awards for Best Short Film and Best Short Screenplay, the Gold Plaque Award from Chicago International Film Festival and Le Prix Recherche from the Clermont Ferrand Film Festival. Sparks and a later short, Life On Earth As I Know It, have both been screened on Channel 4 and at numerous festivals.
Then there's Metro Screen in Sydney where I've played in a few shorts like Silence and The King of Queens.
These black and white shots are from Edge of Town and When The Sun Falls two shorts by Kerry Rock and Georgina Willis from Potoroo Films.
