Do you have a genuine passion for shopping?
Can you find the best on trend, on budget buys?
Do you love sharing your fashion advice with friends? If so you could be the one Westfield are looking for!
Applications close 1 October at 5pm AEDST.
Well well well... a savvy shopper huh? I'm putting my hand up for this, but what are MY chances? Is there someone at Westfield with a good mind who will see the massive benefits in having a slightly unexpected choice to helm this position such as myself?
What am I offering?
I am a savvy shopper - after all I have to shop for myself - and I'm a stylish guy, but I am also helping my boys and girls (young men and women really) kit themselves up on a tight budget, with style. They are all from Bhutan via seventeen years in detention before they have arrived here at the invitation of the Australian Government (yes that's right - my family are refugees who were invited and relocated at the Govt's expense, because Australia is a nice welcoming country!!!!!). They are not your standard sizes, who would be after being born and living in detention all your life in the case of Chakra San, the youngest son. He has a waist the size of a nine year old yet he is more than twice that age.
They are also - excuse the expression - alien. They look like they may be from India - which has been difficult for them with some of the aggro pitched towards Indian folk over the past few months. Not that all Australians are racist, but when it is an issue on the nightly news day after day - well, it troubles them for obvious reasons.
What works best is to find stylish clothing that gives them a positive outlook, and helps them feel like they are part of their new country. No lap laps and sari's for school, that's for sure. The lads look great in cool clothes from Yd, so do I for that matter - and Globalize also stock nice stuff. I buy in these shops, as well as find the good bargains at places like Cotton On and Myer, as well as Harris Scarfe's.
We are a happy little band when we are dressed well and can still afford rent and food!!
What can I say about my own style??
Certainly shopping as a guy can be difficult - finding the time and deciding on what is suitable and what puts me in a good mood. When I wear something I want it to be an extention of who I am and how I feel.
Some of the new season meanswear is great for me - pastel colours, light fabrics, nice textures... I am really loving the vast array of tshirts on the market these days, and the colours - so much variety!!
These are the things I am liking at the moment, along with the patched jean as opposed to the torn jean - I'm a bit over the torn (very 1980's) look, unless it has a patch and some overstitching to keep those tears neat and tidy.
It is good to be practical - and to look around before making the purchase. None of this grabbing whatever and buying half a dozen just because it is the easy way out. Better to have some variety in the wardrobe, so I can truly express how I am feeling.

Kimono and the motifs of Japan
Katsumi Yumioka
Here is a beautiful book that takes us through many kimono designs after breaking down several of the essential icons to be found within the genre.
The introduction is in English. It is less than a full page long, so if you want to know more, this is only going to give you limited information for the rest of the book is mostly in Japanese, ninety-nine percent mostly.
If you are unable to read Japanese you will still derive great pleasure in the contents. There are about five hundred images here of the art and motifs of kimonos.
Splendid photographs of the artwork - each one does have an English title, so you are not completely in the dark if you do not read Japanese.
Much of the time it is the imagery we crave when we are seeking to develop our design skills, so this is a useful book for the designer also.
