Russell Brand, the most thrilling comedian of his generation, will release his new DVD, Scandalous - Live at the 02, on Friday 6th August 2010. Until then he will keep it in a cage and prod it with a very pointy stick.
The lively DVD, recorded during his sell out UK wide Scandalous tour - which recently visited Australian shores in two sold-out shows in Sydney and Melbourne, rolls out 80 minutes of Brands's brand of what he thinks may be funny if only he could get enough people to laugh at it, all together at once, to really convince him it is actually as funny as he thinks it may be.
Brand talks about his flukish Hollywood fame, flirting with the audience and proffering sex tips because he has had so much sex it is incredible that he hasn't worn his penis off. He pokes and pokes and pokes and pokes and keeps on poking until his little knob is glowing, and then he gives it a rest, but not for long! Defending his leggings as Testostertrousers and offering anecdotes about high falluting shit and knobs like Tim Westwood and Helen Mirren and other raked-up-muck like that, he's a real man, even if his hair is a bit girly.
His United States of America experience of hosting the MTV Video Music Awards in 2008 is also a source of material for Brand because he was actually there and can replay the video coverage to count how many people actually laughed at the funny things he said, and how many were laughing at the prospect of seeing him naked. He infamously offended American viewers by calling U.S. President George W. Bush a retarded cowboy fella and proceeding to shave his pubic hair on stage into the shape of one of Bush's eyebrows. Although the moment was never telecast it has become the most hit Youtube clip in all time after the bag packing scene in Star Wars.
Quickly realising he had to abandon his original script and present off the top of his head, Brand saves many of the original jokes for the DVD and delivers them with Eloquence a Miami Rap Artist and snake charmer.
Russell Brand has had a successful career in stand-up comedy since his first appearance at the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year Final in 2000. Appearances include the Teenage Cancer Trust and Royal Variety Performance in 2007, which followed his first nationwide UK tour, Shame, in 2006
His debut autobiography, My Booky Wook, sold over a million copies and he recorded a special for Comedy Central titled Russell Brand in New York (not live from Dibley).
He has also had a hugely successful movie career with hits such as the romantic comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, St Trinian's, Bedtime Stories - and most recently Get Him To The Greek. Not to mention is role in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean Mystery of the Unruly Testostertrousers as Cat'n Sparrow's wayward son.
Brand followed up his Best Newcomer award at the British Comedy Awards with a fry up and pint of larger.
The DVD will also feature never-been-seen-before DVD extras. Possibly a very risque exclusive 'Frank and Explicit' interview with the son of Mr and Mrs Skinner interviewing Russell in a see through night gown. In addition there is a really unique and new special feature idea of, like really, get this, actual behind the scenes footage of Russell.
