PARADES AND ERNEST ELLIS
TEAM UP FOR DOUBLE HEADLINE TOUR
They are two of the most lauded up-and-coming indie acts to hit Australia this year, and this October Parades and Ernest Ellis are joining forces for a major national tour.
It's been a stellar year for Sydney outfit Parades. After performing at Homebake and supporting Gomez on a national tour, Parades released their debut album Foreign Tapes this April 2010. The album received unanimous praise for its expansive, ambitious haze of pop harmonies, post rock guitars and electronic meanderings.
"Bold, startling and awe-inspiring" is how The Brag describes their garage-produces debut, echoed by Mess & Noise's "staggering album".
"They executed the contrasts of their music; with a heavy drop into richly textured musical layers, to delicate ghostly vocals and melodies accompanied by minimal percussion. The level of intensity and energy of this 50-minute set was mind-blowing." Fasterlouder.com.au
Ernest Ellis has had an equally dramatic rise with his debut album Hunting scoring five star reviews, selling out headline shows and performing at Splendour In The Grass.
Recorded in a farmhouse in Orange using unique recording techniques, Hunting has been described as an "impeccable debut" (*****Rave Magazine), and a "masterpiece" (Drum Media Perth).
But it is in the live arena that these two acts really shine.
Parades have impressed audiences across the country with their electrifying live shows, and Ernest Ellis' haunting album takes on an entirely new dimension on stage, backed by a full rock band, the songs lift and build to towering crescendos.
"While the album recording hint at calm, space and introspection, Ellis & Co are having none of that, launching full voice into rollicking, drummed-up renditions [of the album tracks] - The mature and joyful live performance witnessed tonight hints at grander stages and rowdy crowds in the very near future." Be sure to get to the venue early. Each band is alternating headline spot each night so you never know who'll be on first!
