Following on from the successful 2008 Odyssey Festival exhibition which carried the theme of Odyssey of Youth (journey of youth), eye2eye fine art gallery presents Odyssey, The Journey Continues as part of Adelaide's Hellenic cultural celebrations, the Odyssey Festival.

For Odyssey, The Journey Continues seventeen artists will come together to present diverse works that depict their love for Hellenic culture. While their works must reflect their passion for the Greek way of life the artists do not need to have a Greek background.
Artists exhibiting in Odyssey include: Ioanna, JoAnne Bouzianis, Bill Cook, Michael Constantinou, Sophie Corso, Maxine Delengas, Sophie Georgiadis, Helen Kari, Desma Kastanos, Kasiani Koutris, Helena Lee Carapetis, Helen Mak, Kyriaki Maragozidis, Sonali Patel, Angela Souter, Niki Sperou and Michael Taliangis.

Helen Mak finds solace in creating paintings which reflect her Australian Greek culture as she comes to grips with her own cultural diversity. She says, I interpreted the idea of the journey as an abstract surreal manifestation of our shared human longing for transformation - the crucial mental journey that precedes any physical one. I refer to the journey that has taken place in my subconscious as the Hellenic Sensibility.

The Odyssey Art Prize of $1,500 from the Maras Group will be awarded on the night to the most outstanding artwork. The winning piece will also become a permanent fixture in the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia's gallery. The Odyssey Festival is presented by the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia and runs from 1 to 31 October 2009.
