Inspired by quantum physics choreographer Aidan Munn has created the dance performance Meta Quantum Geek for the second year dancers at Adelaide Centre for the Arts.
The effect that an individual has on their own reality and the positive outcomes that clear intent can set in motion are the driving forces behind the new dance performance.
Set in a futuristic laboratory, an ancient-style priestess attempts to release the central character from the confines of their rigid reality. In the lab they are surrounded by dancers, sub-atomic particles and potential electrons, who change the force fields to enable the main character to find a new reality and freedom.
"The work is by no means trying to explain quantum physics, rather I am using the concepts that it presents to develop new choreographic material," said Aidan Munn. "A range of choreographic phrases are used to describe how different ordering and timing of individual events can change the final outcome of an event."
The contemporary dance work will be performed by TAFE SA's Adelaide Centre for the Arts second year dancers: Tobiah Booth-Remmers, Jessica Charlton, Caitlin Gleeson, Thomas Greenfield, Rebecca Jones, Nigel Major-Henderson, Lewis Rankin, Christopher Scherer, Amy Shepherdson and Ciaran Woods with third year dancer Jessamy Chapman.
Choreographer Aidan Munn began his professional dance career with the Australian Dance theatre. He was a founding member of the Leigh Warren dancers and danced with the company for ten years. Aidan has also spent time touring internationally as Director and Performer for the Buzz Hip-Hop Circus as well as Slack Taxi roving performance as performer and choreographer.
