New and developing role
People Living With HIV/AIDS-SA Inc (PLWHA-SA) is a community based Health Promotion NGO with a commitment to improving health outcomes and advocating for the rights of HIV positive people. We are seeking 2 highly motivated individuals to deliver high quality health promotion programs to the diverse and widely spread HIV community in SA.
The Health Promotion Officer is a member of a small health promotion team with primary responsibility for the implementation of the service delivery component of the PLWHA-SA Five Year Strategic Direction 2009 - 2014 and the activities and evaluation measures of the annual business plan.
The team of Health Promotion Officers provide programs and services that promote, expand and maintain accessibility, community education, connectivity, personal education and positive health of HIV people throughout South Australia, and engage with other relevant communities of interest in ways that build capacity, promote information exchange, increase organisational expertise and in turn, value-add to such communities.
The Health Promotion Officer interacts with the HIV sector in a manner that supports cooperation between relevant organisations, and maximises HIV people's positive experience of services.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* program planning, implementation and evaluation
* engaging with HIV positive people to address stigmatisation and discrimination against HIV people and to build alliances between HIV people and other relevant communities of interest
* working across the HIV sector to provide a strong public voice about the lived experience of HIV people
* demonstrated understanding of personal and professional boundaries and the complexities of peer-based work
