The Adelaide Central Gallery invites you to a survey exhibition of the photographic and photo related work of Gavin Blake from 1991-2008, to be opened by Philip White.
Gavin Blake is the founder and director of the Centre for Creative Photography in Adelaide, and presents this solo exhibition at the Adelaide Central Gallery which represents a survey of most of the portfolios he has exhibited in Australia since his return in 1991 after 4 years of living and working in the United States of America.
Introspection includes the suite of works Immaculate Projections (series 1991and1994), Forensics, Strange Attractors, Waywards, Apothecaries, Poetry, and Movie Portraits; the last of which comprises a series of black and white photographs taken in a ten-minute exposure of Adelaide identities including Rob Kelvin, Albert Bensimon, and Cheong Liew.
Gavin states All pervasive, photographs record everything yet fail to reveal anything to us except perhaps a trace of our memories... It is this quality of the photograph - its perceived veracity to load the viewer with - that I find fascinating and which I have continuously exploited in my photographic work.
