Exhibition
Fragments of a Female Consciousness
27 February - 22 March
Higher Ground (The Art Cafe)
9 Light Square, Adelaide
Opening hours: 10:00am - 10:00pm
Angelique Haese - a visual arts student from UniSA South Australian School of Art - presents Fragments of a Female Consciousness, a photographic and sculptural exhibition focusing on perceptions of the female form and self worth.
Central to the exhibition will be a series of fabric sculptures that have been molded and shaped using sugar syrup and other fabric hardeners. A number of black and white photographic works will also be showcased. The whole exhibition is accented by touches of red, symbolizing intensity, passion, power and pain.
Fabric is a very feminine material; tactile and luscious, something you can physically feel. At the same time, these sculptures are fragile and can be easily damaged. It is this tension that I want to highlight through my first solo exhibition.
Angelique is a second year Bachelor of Visual Arts student at the South Australian School of Art, a partner school of the Helpmann Academy.
The Academy assists emerging artists to make the leap into professional practice, by providing a range of programs and opportunities including exhibitions, awards, grants, mentorships and international exchanges. The other partner schools that make up the Academy are Vizarts O'Halloran Hill (tafeSA); Adelaide Central School of Art; Elder Conservatorium of Music (University of Adelaide); Flinders Drama & Screen Production (Flinders University) and the Adelaide Centre for the Arts (tafeSA).
