FIRE! SANTA ROSA, FIRE!
ALBUM TOUR - MAY/JUNE 2010
The title of Sea Priest is almost an opening allusion to the music itself. The ability for limitless self exploration and discovery through perilous and unfathomable depths and onto calmer waters. The enthusiasm and energy that resonates through the debut album by Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! has been categorised as everything from their early post punk leanings through to the more recent and rather ambigious title of doom pop.
Despite this defition, members of the band seem to relish the opportunity to explore new sonic territory. Drummer Samuel Stearne, We certainly don't want to lose that pop sensibility. It's always good to have something that doesn't make you completely insular and exclusive and that's the reason we love pop music. It always comes back to the pop hooks. I think the better hooks we can write and the more convincing job we can do of writing a pop song, the better.
Initially discovered through Triple J's Unearthed intiative (winning a prized slot on at the Homebake festival), the relentless touring juggernaut throughout 2009 has seen the band tour and support the likes of Sia, Born Ruffians, Dappled Cities, Bertie Blackman, Hungry Kids of Hungary and I Heart Hiroshima, as well as play Big Day Out and Laneway festivals. The album was written during this period, enlisting the help of producer Matt Hills, whose work with fellow labelmate Wolf & Cub's Vessels made a lasting impression on the young six piece, as well as former Sediken member and engineer Mirko Vogel.
Joining F!SRF! on their national east coast tour are Sydney five piece Deep Sea Arcade.
Ethereal guitars and lyrical quirks will transport the listener to a dark, watery world ofmystery and enchantment, and leave their heads swimming with unforgettable melodies.
Sydney's Deep Sea Arcade's reverberated pop recalls The Beatles at their psychedelic peak, yet with a character and charm that is undeniably unique. Local supports will open in each state.
With one of the most exciting burgeoning live acts touring nationally at the moment, Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! are the band of the moment to see.
