The Adelaide Feast Festival has announced increases in core funding for 2008 including a special one-off payment from the Department of Premier and Cabinet of $30,000. The Adelaide City Council and South Australian Tourism Commission have both contributed $5,000 and the South Australian Youth Arts Board $9,150 to the 2008 Feast Festival which runs from November 15 - 30.
Feast has also received funding for the first time from; The Australia Council: $20,000; Richard Llewellyn Trust: $4,780 and the Arts SA Community Arts Development: $60, 000 (over two Festivals). A recent market research study on Feast, conducted by Flinders University, reported that the Festival has a $1.7 million positive economic impact on the State.
In the area of sponsorships a new international media sponsorship package valued at $18,000 has been negotiated with Asian media website, Fridae.com
Adelaide-based web design company Digital Monkey will provide in-kind sponsorship of more than 50% of the cost of Feast's new website and Quest on King William will continue its major sponsorship, increasing it's in kind contribution significantly from 2007.
Feast earlier announced a three Festival sponsorship with Evolution Publishing, Australia's leading gay and lesbian publishing house that also has a major online presence.
Announcing the funding and sponsorship gains, Feast Director Daniel Clarke said, 'With performances for 2008 from the UK, New Zealand, the United States, Germany, Portugal, Spain and Japan, Feast 2008 is truly an international Festival and our additional funding and sponsorships increases reflect Feast's growing presence on the international festival circuit.'
The poster for Feast 2008 will be unveiled at a unique winter gala event, entitled Binge, be held at Norwood Concert Hall on Saturday 16 August. Audiences will be the first to see Feast's 2008 poster and also be told about some of the 2008 Festival highlights, which will go on sale that evening. The full Feast Festival program will be launched on September 26.
Binge will feature international singing sensation and exotica performance artist, Meow Meow; two time ARIA nominee Coco's Lunch, featuring Libby O'Donovan; Glace Chase part cabaret, part motivational-lecture, part trash, Glace's outrageous story telling and wicked songs are shaping up to be the hottest fireball since Chernobyl and singer, guitarist, songwriter Justin J Bear - the only man ever to hold 3 concurrent Sydney identity titles including Sydney Pride's Sexiest Male. The night will also feature DJ Frayne Train on the decks, a silent auction and drinks and food can be purchased at the venue.
