armed and empty handed exhibition presents drawings that capture fleeting moments of intensity by South Australian artist Kim Buck.
Kim Buck is an emerging artist currently in her second year of the Bachelor of Visual Art at the South Australian School of Art, UniSA. Her detailed drawings are ambiguous and suggestive of various narratives yet universal in their scope and themes.
The drawings in armed and empty handed are Kim's response to our constant human struggle to harmonize wants, needs and desires, and the concept that bound by a certainty of the uncertain, we really are all armed and empty handed
Since stumbling upon a love of drawing several years ago Kim has been a regular exhibitor around Adelaide. She held her first solo exhibition in late 2006 at Oxygen Hair, Dulwich and has participated in several group exhibitions including Evollove for the 2007 Feast Festival, Chain of 77 in the 2008 Fringe Festival and Nude at the Hood at the Robin Hood Hotel.
armed and empty handed is supported by a Helpmann Academy grant, Rainbow Press Veronique Wines and Millie's Cafe. The South Australian School of Art, UniSA is a Helpmann Academy partner school.

My work explores the inescapable transience of life and the tensions that exist between holding on and letting go. They represent the personal and intimate connections we experience through relationships, families and self identity.Artist, Kim Buck
