Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander artist program
Arts SA has a new funding program called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander artist program. Below is a message from Alex Reid. Executive Director, Arts SA, as well as some information about the program with a link to guidelines and application forms.
The Government of South Australia, through Arts SA, recognises the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) artists to the artistic and cultural life of all South Australians.
Arts SA has a range of programs open to all Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) artists, arts workers, community groups and arts and cultural organisations based in South Australia
The ATSI arts development program offers skills development opportunities including mentorships, masterclasses and work placements as well as funding for ATSI artists, arts administrators and organisations for the development of new work.
Applicants can apply up for up to $3000 for activity in Australia and up to $5000 for international projects.
The next round of funding closes 17 October 2008.
Arts SA works with artists and administrators to ensure that South Australia can offer sustainable career pathways to its artists. Respect for ATSI culture is hugely important and Arts SA encourages communication and consultation at every stage of the development of any project supported through its funding programs, says Alex Reid, Executive Director.
