Acting Fringe CEO appointed
The Board of Adelaide Fringe Inc today announced the appointment of Conny Wilson to the position of Acting CEO commencing on October 20.
Fringe CEO Sandy Verschoor is taking leave, returning to the Fringe in May 2009 in time to steer the ship for the 50th Anniversary celebrations. Sandy will be taking this opportunity to complete her Masters in Creative Writing at University of Adelaide and undertake some personal projects.
Conny Wilson was the General Manager of the SALA (South Australian Living Artists) Festival, which presents an annual state wide visual arts event each August. In 2006, the SALA Festival was presented the inaugural Ruby Award for Community Impact, and through the success of its partnership with The Advertiser also secured in 2006, was able to further develop its profile and audience reach throughout South Australia.
Prior to working in the arts, Conny worked in the hospitality industry, and spent seven years successfully managing her own business. While at university, she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Psychology and Politics, and remains particularly interested in these topics today.
Through a scholarship provided by Arts SA, Conny is also undertaking the Governors Leadership Foundation Program through the Leaders Institute of SA.
"I am very excited to be given an opportunity to be part of the Fringe team, working on such an iconic event. This is a fantastic opportunity and I look forward to a fabulous event in 2009" said Ms Wilson.
Adelaide Fringe Chair Judy Potter said "The Board is delighted to be able to appoint Conny to the role. I'm very pleased that someone with Conny's energy, experience and enthusiasm will be stepping in. She's done a brilliant job with SALA which, like the Adelaide Fringe; is an open access festival for all artists."
"We also look forward to Sandy's return next year. She and Fringe Director Christie Anthoney have some very exciting plans for the 50th anniversary celebrations in 2010" she said.
